CLAPBACK
Version 0.1.1

INSTALLING

1. Extract this zip anywhere (your Downloads folder is fine).
2. Double-click "Clapback-Setup-0.1.1.exe".
3. Pick where to install it, or keep the suggested folder (no admin rights
needed there), then click Install. Clapback opens when it is done.

You only do this once. After that, Clapback updates itself.

"WINDOWS PROTECTED YOUR PC"

Windows may show a blue box saying it protected your PC the first time you
run the installer. This is expected, and it only happens once.

  1. Click "More info".
  2. Click "Run anyway".

Why it appears: Windows shows this for any program whose maker has not
bought a code signing certificate (a yearly paid licence from Microsoft's
partners). Clapback is a private app made for a group of friends, so it does
not have one. The box is about who made the file, not about anything in it.

To skip the box entirely: before extracting, right-click the zip, choose
Properties, tick "Unblock" at the bottom, then click OK.

IS IT SAFE?

Scan the installer with your own antivirus first if you like (right-click
it and choose your antivirus's scan option). That is always a good idea with
anything you download.

Every Clapback update is signed by its maker, and the app checks that
signature before installing anything, so nobody else can slip in a fake
update, even through Clapback's own server.

To check this is the exact file that was released, compare its SHA-256
fingerprint with this one:

  2759b662d9321d7fe543d47ca08a9167db0f7289f39dee1ae656e9f274dc8702

To see your file's SHA-256, open PowerShell in the extracted folder and run:

  Get-FileHash .\Clapback-Setup-0.1.1.exe

IF WINDOWS BLOCKS IT WITH NO "RUN ANYWAY" BUTTON

That is Smart App Control, which is only switched on for some fresh Windows
installs. Check it under Windows Security > App & browser control >
Smart App Control. If it says On, message whoever sent you Clapback.

CLOSING CLAPBACK

The X hides Clapback to the system tray (by the clock), so you stay in voice
and lobbies. To close it completely, right-click its tray icon and choose
Quit Clapback.

UNINSTALLING

Settings > Apps > Installed apps > Clapback > Uninstall.
